Job summary

Transdev North America in San Rafael, CA is seeking experienced Drivers to join our team, delivering safe door-to-door paratransit transportation for disabled and senior passengers with high standards of safety and service.

As a union-position driver, you will follow routes and schedules, greet passengers, handle fares, assist boarding, and report vehicle issues while maintaining cleanliness and safety equipment.

Qualifications

• 21 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid California driver’s license in good standing with the ability to obtain a CDL permit.
• Minimum 3 years of driving experience (personal or professional).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.
• Punctual with good attendance.

Responsibilities

• Safety-focused operations with adherence to routes and schedules.

Job description

We are currently hiring experienced Drivers to join our elite team in San Rafael, CA. As a key member, you will be entrusted with ensuring safe and comfortable transportation for our passengers, while upholding the highest standards of safety, professionalism and customer service. You will be providing transportation for the disabled and senior community, ensuring they get to where they need to go safely. Paratransit Drivers provide passengers with door-to-door service, reliable transportation and excellent customer service.

• Bus Operator Position Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• $23.50 - $27.32 (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Payscale).

Key Responsibilities

• Safety-Focused Operations: Execute flawless operations by meticulously following designated routes and schedules, while adhering to stringent safety protocols and traffic regulations.
• Greet passengers, accept fare payment and maintain a safe environment.
• Passenger Care: Exhibit exceptional care and assistance towards passengers, ensuring smooth boarding, comfortable rides, and timely disembarkation for all.
• Provides door-to-door transportation services for disabled and seniors.
• Vehicle Vigilance: Champion vehicle safety through comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections, promptly reporting any maintenance issues and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety equipment readiness.
• Promptly report all incidents, accidents and mechanical concerns.
• Adherence to Protocols: Uphold company policies and procedures rigorously, encompassing seat belt enforcement, emergency response preparedness, and compliance with regulatory mandates.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years old with a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• A valid California driver’s license in good standing with the ability to obtain a CDL permit.
• Minimum 3 years of driving experience (personal or professional).
• Excellent communication & customer service skills.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Punctual with an emphasis on attendance.
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces.
• Push and pull objects up to 25 lbs. occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
