Job summary

Bibb County Public School System in Georgia is seeking a paraprofessional to assist in creating a well-organized class environment where students can learn through small-group instruction and computer-assisted learning.

You will support teachers with supervision, materials preparation, and clerical tasks; help students operate computers, review work, and report student progress as needed. This on-site role offers a stable schedule and a benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) required.
  • Experience with children preferred.
  • Experience with computers and instructional software desired.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts small group or individual activities based on lesson plans.
  • Assists with supervision of students.
  • Assists students with computer operation and software use.
  • Checks, reviews, and/or grades student work; observes and reports on progress.
  • Assists with routine classroom record keeping.
  • Prepares instructional materials, copies and displays, and sets up AV equipment.
  • Observes child behavior and reports observations as necessary.
  • Assists students with classwork on an individual basis as needed.
  • Monitors student behavior in classroom, cafeteria, and playground.
  • Performs clerical tasks and other duties as assigned.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Assists in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can learn subject matter and develop skills through the use of small group instruction and computer-assisted learning.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This job has/has no supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Conducts small group or individual classroom activities based on lesson plans developed by the teacher.
  • Assists with the supervision of students.
  • Assists students with the operation of computers and the use of selected software.
  • Checks, reviews, and/or grades student classwork, homework, and tests; observes and reports on students' performance?including their progress, weaknesses, special needs, etc.
  • Assists with routine classroom record keeping.
  • Assists with the preparation of materials for instruction (including copying and duplicating materials, constructing displays and bulletin boards, setting up and operating audio/visual materials/equipment, computers, etc.).
  • Observes child behavior and reports observations as necessary.
  • Assists students with classwork; works with children in need of special attention on an individual basis as needed.
  • Monitors student behavior in classroom, cafeteria, playground, etc., as necessary.
  • Performs clerical tasks and duties as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Associate's degree or sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours required. Some experience working with children preferred. Experience working with computers and instructional software desired. Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

  • Ability to work under close supervision.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • GaPSC Clearance Certification
  • GaPSC Paraprofessional Certification
Salary/Terms/Benefits:
  1. 182day work year;7.5 hours per day
  2. Salary: Grade 111: Hourly (placement on salary schedule based on years or experience). Up to ten (10) years allowed. The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure. The top pay is not a potential starting salary.
  3. Excellent benefits package (including health, dental, vision, and life insurance; employee assistance program); personal and sick leave; membership in State Retirement System.
