Job summary

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material skills introduced by the classroom teacher/media specialist
• Assists the classroom teacher/media specialist in devising special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities
• Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction
• Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the classroom teacher
• Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips
• Obtains, gathers, and organizes pertinent data, as needed, and puts it in usable form
• Performs clerical duties assigned by the principal or classroom teacher
• Helps to ensure a well-organized, smoothly functioning school/classroom environment
