Job summary

ATC Healthcare Services is seeking a Paraprofessional Educator with Special Education experience to support students in Tinley Park, IL. Qualifications

Reporting

Reports to the franchise owner/manager or designee and to client supervisors and managers.

Education

• Has completed State of Illinois Professional Educator curriculum endorsed for Paraprofessional’s.
• Obtained an associate degree (or higher) at a regionally accredited institution of higher education or equivalent to obtain a license.

Licensure

Possess a valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License endorsed for Paraprofessional.

Experience

• Mandatory-Must have at least 1 year of recent experience working with children with special needs, students with medical/developmental disabilities as a Paraprofessional Educator. Must also have experience with students that may have very challenging behavior.

Credentials

• Background screening as required by the client.
• CPR from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
• Hepatitis B Statement or Declination [OSHA 29 CFR, 1910.1030(f)(2)].
• Tuberculosis screening test.
• Physical exam.
• Drug screening as required by the client contract.

• Work sites vary.
• Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
• The physical demands are representative of those that may be required by an employee to successfully perform the representative duties and responsibilities of the job

Representative Duties and Responsibilities

• Complies with ATC Healthcare Services policies and procedures.
• Complies with client policies and procedures.
• Provides instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students.
• Assists teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class.
• Helps with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials.
• Supervises students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, on field trips, and/or during before and after school programs.
• Attends to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs.
• Supports students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans.
• Communicates in writing or verbally with parents/guardians per school protocols.
• Performs other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration.
