Michigan City Area Schools is seeking a para- professional to assist teachers in implementing IEPs for students identified with disabilities. The role supports classroom instruction across settings and contributes to a positive, collaborative learning environment.

Work Schedule:School year only; 5.75 hours per day
Reports to:Building Principal, unless otherwise noted
The Paraprofessional is to assist the teacher with the implementation of Individual Education Programs of students identified with disabilities. It is the responsibility of the teacher to provide direct instruction to the students, providing the Paraprofessional guidance in a variety of areas. The role of the Paraprofessional is to work in a supportive capacity as part of a team to meet the needs of each student. Teacher assistance may be provided across multiple settings such as special education classrooms, general education classrooms, and other designated learning environments within the school or community. In addition, Paraprofessionals assist with classroom procedures that may include but are not limited to; educational support, mobility support, vocational support, behavior support, assistance with functional skills, and physical or occupational therapy support.
Salary Scope:$13.52per hour plus $2.50per hoursupplement
