Job summary

Oak Hill School is seeking a Paraprofessional-Behavior to support students with diverse learning needs. You will work with Special Education Teachers and a multidisciplinary team to implement behavioral strategies, reinforce instruction, and promote independence in a compassionate, patient, and collaborative environment.

You will help with personal care tasks as needed, assist during transitions, and contribute to a safe, engaging classroom.

Qualifications

• Associates degree (or currently enrolled) in education, child development or related field.
• Some experience in child care, education or related field
• At least 18 years of age
• Valid driver’s license for at least two and a half to three years
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow instructional plans and directions
• Compassion, patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude
• Ability to safely assist students with mobility and personal care needs

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of behavioral intervention strategies and academic and/or vocational instruction for students as outlined in their IEPs.
• Work one-on-one and in small groups to reinforce classroom instruction.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Encourage student independence while implementing individualized behavior support plans.
• Assist with classroom observation and documentation of student progress.
• Provide personal care support, including toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, transferring, and other daily living activities as needed.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
• Assist students during transportation and school transitions when necessary.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, families, and other educational professionals to promote student success.
• Participate in ongoing training and maintain required certifications, including V-Endorsement.
