Job summary

El Dorado Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional to assist in instructional activities and clerical tasks under the supervision of a Classroom Teacher and Principal. The position follows a 178-day contract with hours from 7:50 am to 3:25 pm and a non-exempt wage structure.

The ideal candidate will hold an Associate Degree or 60 college hours, or a high school diploma with ParaPro Praxis passage, and demonstrate strong support for student learning and classroom management.

Qualifications

• Requires combination of education and certification as ParaPro.
• Must be able to supervise students and assist instructional staff.
• Ability to perform routine clerical tasks and basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Tutor or assist a group of children as designated by the teacher.
• Review and summarize learning of specific skills; repeat lessons when needed.
• Dispense and clean up materials; assist in class demonstrations.
• Monitor and supervise students during classroom activities and field trips.
• Maintain discipline in the teacher’s absence; support instructional staff.

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non exempt

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 178 days

HOURS: 7:50 am - 3:25 pm

SALARY: $18,754.08 - $20,623.08

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist in conducting learning experiences for students in assigned areas; perform a variety of clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel; and to perform related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Certification

• An Associate of Arts Degree or 60 College hours or High School Diploma/GED and Successful Completion of the ParaPro Praxis Assessment with qualifying score.(Documentation must be provided.)

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

Knowledge of

• General Concepts of child growth and development and child behavior characteristics.
• General Purposes and goals of public education.

Ability to

• Assume responsibility for supervising students.
• Learn and utilize basic methods and procedures to be followed in instructional settings.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
