San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, New Mexico is seeking experienced Paramedics to join our team. This nonprofit, community-owned hospital is focused on delivering exceptional care and improving community health.

As a Paramedic, you will respond to emergency calls, provide pre-hospital care up to the paramedic level, and work across eight ambulance stations while maintaining high standards of safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • New Mexico EMT-Paramedic Licensure.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Driving Record free of un-insurable violations.
  • Meet NM PRC DOT physical requirements.
  • Meet Life Support Certification policy requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency calls as ambulance driver or attendant and perform rescue work.
  • Provide paramedic level pre-hospital care as delineated in NM Scope of Practice.
  • Maintain ambulance, equipment, and supplies in proper working order.
  • Participate in ongoing training programs in technical medical work and ambulance service.
  • Act as a preceptor in new employee orientation and support field teams.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, coworkers and other agencies.

San Juan Regional Medical Center manages San Juan County’s ambulance service, which is partially supported by a Gross Receipts Tax.

Required Qualifications
  • New Mexico EMT-Paramedic Licensure
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Driving Record free of un-insurable violations
  • Must meet the requirements for obtaining and maintaining life support certifications as outlined in the Life Support Certification policy
  • Meet NM Public Regulatory Commission (PRC) DOT physical requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four (4) years of EMT experience
  • Completion of College level A&P
  • NM State Special Skills Endorsement for Rapid Sequence Induction
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of emergency medical procedures and techniques
  • Working knowledge of equipment and supplies employed in the emergency care of patients and victims of accidents
  • Working knowledge of city and county geometry and location of roads and streets, hospitals and nursing homes
  • Working knowledge of radio communications equipment
  • Skill in assessing a victim's condition and applying emergency medical care
  • Ability to drive an ambulance safely under various weather conditions
  • Ability to deal with patients, their families, co-workers, other agencies and hospital staff courteously at all times
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees
  • Responds to emergency calls as an ambulance driver or attendant, performs necessary rescue work, administers necessary emergency medical care, and transports persons to appropriate medical facilities
  • Provides paramedic level pre-hospital care as delineated in the NM Scope of Practice
  • Maintains ambulance, equipment, and supplies in proper working order
  • Participates in a continuous training program in technical medical work and in ambulance service and operation
  • Acts as preceptor in new employee orientation
  • Gives talks on emergency medical services at schools
  • Conducts tours of station as requested
  • Cleans ambulances and stations
  • Studies street and road patterns of the cities and county
  • Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work: Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship
  • Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions
  • Ability to lift 50 Kg.
  • May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases
  • Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
  • Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
  • Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness)
  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
  • Handles emergency or crisis situations
  • Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
  • Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and injuries
  • Requires judgment/action which could result in death of a patient
