Job summary

St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a Paramedic to join our fast-paced emergency department. You will support the nursing and physician teams, communicate patient complaints, and provide patient and family education.

The role emphasizes infection prevention and competent management of IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, Foley insertions, and transport duties. Successful candidates will have Paramedic credentials, ACLS within 90 days, BCLS within 7 days, and PALS within 90 days of start

Qualifications

  • Paramedic certification required.
  • ACLS within 90 days of employment.
  • BCLS within 7 days of employment start date.
  • PALS within 90 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

  • Assist RN and physicians with patient care and education.
  • Inform RN staff of patient chief complaints for initial assessment.
  • Support infection prevention and control per policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, Foley insertion, and equipment operation.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Paramedic you will help to provide exceptional patient care in our fast-paced emergency room. In this role you will be supporting the nursing staff as they care for individuals with needs ranging from minor injuries to acutely or critically ill patients. We are looking for a highly skilled individual who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. In this role:

  • You will have the ability to quickly and skillfully inform the RN staff of a patient’s chief complaint and the symptoms they are presenting to help them make an informed initial assessment.
  • You will assist the RN and Physicians with providing education to the patient and family
  • You will be a champion of surveillance, prevention and control of Infection: Follows established policies and procedures to identify and reduce the risks of acquiring or transmitting infection by the use of personal protective measures.
  • You will demonstrate the appropriate knowledge and skill with all technical aspects of job, including performance of delegated nursing tasks and equipment operation.
  • You will display competency to perform IV starts, phlebotomy, EKGs, orthopedic skills, Foley insertion, all transporter duties
What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
