PARTTIME PARAMEDIC POSITION AVAILABLE

Provides Advanced Life Support including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of critically ill and injured; responds to emergency rescue situations involving potential loss of life or bodily injury; maintains control, manages and directs patient care at the scene of a pre‑hospital emergency; provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel; performs other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

• Provides and directs fast, efficient Advanced Life Support utilizing basic and advanced techniques, including peripheral and intra‑osseous lines, supraglottic airways, endotracheal intubation, cricothyrotomy, fluid and drug therapy, cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation, defibrillation, and cardioversion.
• Recognizes and understands a medical emergency and makes a reasonable differential diagnosis.
• Performs critical physical examinations.
• Recognizes common cardiac dysrhythmias, life‑threatening dysrhythmias and treats appropriately.
• Understands the pharmacological treatment of critically ill and injured patients.
• Anticipates potentially life‑threatening non‑cardiac emergencies and initiates appropriate therapy.
• Handles medical and emotional needs of victims to reduce mortality and morbidity.
• Manages and directs all first responders at scene, including EMR's, Police Departments, and EMT's.
• Ensures quality patient‑care per company standards.
• Files standard reports of patient information and care.
• Maintains effective communication with physicians on duty.
• Follows protocols when physicians cannot be contacted.
• Transports patients to medical institutions.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely under all conditions.
• Compiles patient statistics and medical information for administrative use.
• Performs rescue operations in varied terrain and circumstances.
• Adheres to policies and procedures in the company.
• Maintains equipment.

ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

• Cleans and maintains vehicles (minor maintenance).
• Cleans and maintains quarters.
• Maintains vehicle records, supplies, training, and daily work logs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The supervisor assigns shifts and overall scope of work. The incumbent performs duties in accordance with procedures, policies, and medical orders. Judgment and sound application of guidance are required. Work is spot‑checked and evaluated based on feedback from patients, medical staff, and others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensed Paramedic with required certifications.
• CPR for Health Care Provider.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Good knowledge of street systems, addresses and layout of the area, and rescue equipment used in Advanced Life Support.
• Technical skills at a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to handle emotional and medical needs of victims, injuries, acute illnesses, and psychosocial emergencies.
• Professional attitude toward patients.
• Continuous learning in rescue, medical technology, and pre‑hospital care.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Operate emergency medical vehicles and equipment, and extract injured persons from various situations.
• Carry or help carry patients to transportation and accompany them to hospital.
• Perform physical assessment of the injured party.
• Maintain academic and practical knowledge of emergency paramedicine.
• Attend continuing education to maintain annual certification.
• Wear company‑issued uniforms and clean them when not in use.
• Carry a company‑issued pager or radio at all times.
