Job Summary

Position responsible for serving in a leadership role and as a clinical expert in the delivery and management of patient care and is cross‑trained to competently care for patients from multiple services/specialties with more complex diagnosis. Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a Paramedic training program

Licenses/Certifications
  • Current: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
  • EMT-P by the Texas Department of State Health Services or
  • Licensed Paramedic by the Texas Department of State Health Services
  • Required to obtain within eighteen months of hire: audit ATLS and obtain FP-C
  • BTLS or PTLS preferred
Experience / Knowledge / Skills
  • Minimum experience three(3) to five (5) years as in-charge paramedic ALS 911 service, will consider MICU transport service experience
  • Maintains current state of physical and mental well being
  • Able to lift at least fifty pounds
  • Physically fit to lift, bend, and twist
  • Able to perform job responsibilities in confined areas and/or differing environments
  • Standard aircraft seat belts will fit without alterations
  • Able to function in the cabin of an aircraft without physical restrictions
  • Meets weight requirements of less than 240 pounds in uniform
Principal Accountabilities
  • Delivers appropriate care to patients, at a competent level, according to the Skills Inventory and the age and needs of the patient/population served.
  • Coordinates the planning for the delivery of patient treatment by the multidisciplinary team and administers appropriate clinical decisions in the planning and delivery of care, utilizing existing resources and staff, and setting appropriate priorities; participates in the development of clinical pathways and monitoring of performance outcomes.
  • Directs the healthcare team in attaining positive outcomes, including meeting treatment goals; develops/implements transfer plans; evaluates the quality of patient care and contributes to the revision of standards of care. Assists the Chief Flight Nurse with projects or duties as assigned.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
