Job summary

BioLife Plasma in Tyler, TX is hiring a Medical Support Specialist (Paramedic) to determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, and support medical and EHS programs. You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance in a plasma donation center environment.

The role requires EMT-Paramedic licensure in state, CPR/AED certification, and two years of clinical/hospital experience; FDA training will be provided. This is a full-time on-site position with competitive hourly wages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs and center standing orders.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues and donor safety.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER follow-up; follow EHS guidance.
• May act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
