Job summary

Henry Ford Health seeks a Paramedic for the Emergency Department in Warren, MI. This full-time position runs afternoons (11:00am-11:30pm) with every other weekend, and includes a $2,500 sign-on bonus.

Provides basic and advanced life support, stabilizes patients under physician and RN direction, and ensures equipment safety for the transport team and public. Eligible for full-time benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 2 years of cumulative experience, or Associate's degree/Technical degree, or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• Paramedic credential from the Michigan EMS system required prior to hire date.
• Advanced Life Support and additional pediatric/neonatal/ER vehicle operation certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes the ill or injured patient under physician/Nurse direction.
• Initiates interventions based on transport team protocols; monitors and communicates patient condition.
• Provides population-specific education to patient and family about illness and therapies.
• Inspects and maintains equipment to ensure safety of the transport team and patients.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Provides basic and advanced life support treatment, care and evaluation of patients.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, intervenes, and stabilizes the ill or injured patient under the direction and in collaboration with a physician and/or Registered Nurse.
• Initiates and implements interventions based on transport team protocols. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition and treatment, as appropriate.
• Provides population specific education to the patient and family about the patient's illness and therapeutic interventions.
• Inspects, maintains and cares for equipment to ensure safety of the transport team, patients and public.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

: - High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Certification/Licensure Required

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted
• Paramedic credentialed from the Michigan Emergency Medical Services obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.
• Certification specializing in ER Vehicle Operation preferred.
• Driver's License credentialed from the Michigan Bureau of Motor Vehicles preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
