Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital in Port St. Lucie, FL seeks a PRN EMS Paramedic to join the transport and on-site care teams. You will provide immediate medical treatment, assess patients, and coordinate with hospital-based staff.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, administering life support as needed, and communicating observations to receiving facilities. A Florida EMTP license and ACLS/PALS are required or obtained soon after hire.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic Training Program.
• Current Florida licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• PALS certification through AHA or Red Cross upon hire or within 1 year.

Job Details

A PRN caregiver in this position works varying days from 9:00AM – 9:30PM.

Responsibilities

• Provide immediate medical treatment to injured or ill patients on-site and/or during transport to hospital
• Maintain equipment.
• Assess nature and extent of illness/injury and patient history from available sources.
• Determine appropriate independent or collaborative response.
• Administer appropriate emergency medical care, including life support procedures, decontamination protocols, obtaining EKG readings and vital statistics monitoring.
• Perform fluid/drug administration as needed.
• Communicate with medical personnel at hospital, report/record observations and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital if on the Transport Team.
• Navigate Ambulance to scene of accident in response to emergency call, if on the Transport Team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic Training Program
• Current Florida licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department
• Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic Training program

Preferred Qualifications

• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
• Current Valid Driver’s License (VDL)
• One year of experience as an EMT or Paramedic

Physical Requirements

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
