Job summary

Global Medical Response seeks a full-time Paramedic to provide advanced medical care in Ventura County, including Moorpark and Oxnard. Responsibilities include on-scene medical care, patient transport decisions, and coordination with receiving facilities.

Candidates must hold California paramedic licensure, CPR, ACLS, PALS, and EMS-related certifications, with a clean driving record. Competitive benefits are offered, with shifts that vary by need across Ventura County operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Paramedic license in California and CPR certification.
  • Ambulance driving credentials and driving record check.
  • Acceptance of FEMA/ICS trainings IS-100/200/700/800.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications are required or preferred.
  • Ability to operate EMS equipment and follow protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Assess each call situation and determine best action and protocol.
  • Operate defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen, suction, IV fluids, CPR and meds.
  • Develop triage skills for efficient call handling.
  • Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety rules.
  • Lift/move patients to provide optimum care.
  • Communicate with receiving facility for direction and information.
  • Lead scene and unit management as needed.
  • Drive ambulance and provide map reading support to minimize response time.
  • Maintain required certifications.
  • Keep unit clean and stocked to project AMR image.
  • Document patient care and billing accurately.
  • Follow policies on turnover times and out-of-chute times.
  • Consider patient status and facility options for transport.
  • Report incidents to supervisor/account manager promptly.
  • Read medication labels and follow usage directions quickly and accurately.
  • Communicate with patients and families in various environments.
  • Notice changes in patient eyes/skin coloration and respond accordingly.
  • Coordinate with dispatcher and EMS providers on status.

Immediately Hiring Full-Time Paramedics

Ventura County, CA (Moorpark and Oxnard)

*Please note that candidate applications will be considered for both our Ventura County Operations, AMR and Gold Coast. Offers are based on current business needs*

MEDIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assess each call situation to determine best course of action and appropriate protocol.
  • Utilize medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care.
  • Develop and utilize triage skills to provide optimal efficiency during calls.
  • Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements.
  • Lift and move patients as required to provide optimum care.
  • Communicate with receiving facility to receive medical direction and to provide critical information.
  • Act as team leader and take responsibility for scene and unit management as needed.
  • Drive the ambulance and provide map reading support to minimize call response time.
  • Continuously maintain all required certifications.
  • Monitor and maintain the general condition of the unit, keep it clean and stocked for optimal call response to maintain the image of AMR.
  • Document activities with regard to patient care and billing completely to ensure appropriate information is available regarding each call.
  • Follow policies and procedures regarding out-of-chute times and turnaround times.
  • Consider patient status and insurance preferred facilities when determining transportation destinations.
  • Reports immediately to the on‑duty supervisor and/or account manager any incident involving a negative customer and/or patient interaction.
  • Read medication/prescription labels and directions for usage in quick, accurate, and expedient manner.
  • Communicate verbally with patients and significant others in various environments to interview patient, family members, and bystanders.
  • Discern deviations/changes in eye/skin coloration due to patient's condition and to the treatment given.
  • Converse with dispatcher and EMS providers via phone or radio as to status of patient.
MEDIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • CA Drivers' License
  • Ambulance Driver's License (from DMV)
  • Medical Examiner's Certificate (MCSA-5875 and MCSA-5876)
  • State of California PARAMEDIC license
  • CPR Card (American Heart Association ONLY, Health Care Provider. Handwritten cards are not acceptable)
  • K4 report (Driving Record) from the DMV (less than 30 days old)

Salary Range: $35.17-$43.42 hour DOE (This rate applies to 12‑hour shift and averages 42 hours per week).

$24.20- $32.74 hour DOE (This rate applies to 24‑hour shift and averages 56 hours per week).
