Job summary

Geisinger Wyoming Valley is seeking a dedicated Paramedic to join our emergency medical services team. This role offers a robust on-site position with a 40-hour weekly schedule, comprehensive clinical duties, and active participation in patient care coordination across the pre-hospital setting.

Eligible candidates may receive a sign-on bonus up to $7,500, shift differentials, relocation assistance, and benefits from day one of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate from Specialty Training Program (Required).
• Certified Paramedic and EMS Vehicle Operator credentials.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP) credential.
• Valid Driver's License - Required.

Responsibilities

• Responds as dispatched within defined geographic coverage area to enhance community advanced life support services.
• Abides by all Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Laws.
• Performs patient assessment and obtains historical data; conveys pertinent findings via two-way communications systems to Medical Commander.
• Effects patient care within the scope of practice and in accordance with regional triage, treatment and transfer protocols.
• Assumes control position at scene of pre-hospital patient encounter; provides direction to primary response personnel.
• Conducts vehicle and equipment survey at onset of assigned tour and after patient encounters; maintains preparedness for response.
• Performs routine equipment and vehicle checks at change of each shift and documents findings.
• Completes written report detailing outcomes of dispatch; submits reports at destination facility and base location.
• Participates in the orientation of newly hired personnel and provides preceptorships for students/volunteers.

Job Duties:

• Knows and follows organizational and departmental policies and procedures applicable to assigned duties.
• Participates in required organizational and departmental patient safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational patient safety.
• Promptly reports serious events and incidents in accordance with established hospital policy and procedure.
• Responsible for coordination with local Fire and Rescue personnel in conducting joint Fire and Emergency Medicine Services operations.
