Mackinac Straits Health System, Inc. in Saint Ignace, MI, seeks a skilled Paramedic to join the emergency department team. You will deliver prompt, professional care, assess patients, monitor vitals, and support critical care operations.

This in-person role requires EMT-P licensure in Michigan, CPR, ACLS and PALS, plus at least two years of pre-hospital emergency experience. Candidate must be proficient with electronic health records, triage support, and interdepartmental transport; you will

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of full-time pre-hospital emergency care experience.
• EMT-P licensure in Michigan.
• Active CPR certification (AHA Course C or ARC Professional Rescuer).
• ACLS and PALS certifications required.
• Strong patient assessment and critical care skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties in the emergency department under supervision with proper training and skills evaluation.
• Assists with codes and critical care patients including interdepartmental transport and monitoring.
• Assesses patients to obtain history, meds, allergies and contraindications.
• Aids triage, prioritizes patient flow, and assists reassessment.
• Delivers direct patient care and attends to physical and emotional needs.
• Monitors vitals per policy and performs IV insertions when needed.
• Draws blood and collects specimens as required.
• Performs nasal swabs when necessary and responds to emergencies on MSHS property.
• Documents in the Electronic Health Record and coordinates with departments.

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Paramedic to join our dynamic emergency department team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in emergency medicine, critical care, and patient assessment. As a Paramedic, you will be responsible for delivering prompt, professional care, managing complex medical situations, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients under your care.

Essential Duties:

• Performs assigned duties in the emergency department under the supervision of Nursing with documentation of proper training and skills evaluation.
• Assists with codes and critical care patients within the emergency department at the paramedic level, including interdepartmental transport and monitoring
• Assesses patients to obtain medical history, medications, allergies, etc. Completes screening form to determine any contraindications for the procedure.
• Triage role: Assists charge nurse and/or triage nurse in assessing, prioritizing, and maintaining patient flow and assists in reassessing patient waiting to be seen.
• Performs clinical duties including patient advocacy, direct patient care, and meeting the physical and emotional needs of the patient.
• Monitors patient’s vital signs per established policy.
• Responsible for performing IV inserts on patients as necessary.
• Responsible for blood draws when necessary
• Responsible for completing Nasal swabs when necessary
• Responds to any medical emergency situation on MSHS property and takes appropriate action.
• Navigate and document in the Electronic Health record.
• Responds to requests for paramedic level services from areas within the emergency department in a timely and safe manner.

Minimum Work Experience:

Minimum of two years’ full-time experience preferred as a provider of pre-hospital care in an emergency setting (paramedic level preferred).

Required Licenses/Certifications:

• Current EMT-P registration in the state.
• Current certification in CPR, American Heart Association Course C or American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
• Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, PALS, American Heart Association

Salary commensurate with experience.

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
