Job summary

Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System is hiring a paramedic to provide prehospital emergency care, assess patients, and coordinate with EMS teams in urgent situations.

The role requires active EMT-P certification and CPR, with at least one year of paramedic experience, and a willingness to travel and work irregular hours. Proficiency with RPMS and EHR is expected, along with reliable attendance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One or more years of paramedic experience.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Valid state EMT-P Certification/EMS license.
  • Familiar with RPMS, EHR and other software.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of HIPPA confidentiality of willing to learn.
  • Knowledge of the Privacy Act and medical confidentiality.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Must be willing to travel if required.
  • Must be willing to work irregularly work schedule, if required.

Responsibilities

  • Administer life support, first-aid treatment and other forms of prehospital emergency care to people who are injured or sick.
  • Operate equipment such as bag valve mask resuscitators, external defibrillators and electrocardiograms for advanced life support applications.
  • Assess patients’ injury severity and type and quickly begin appropriate medical procedures.
  • Drive mobile intensive care unit to predetermined location under the instructions of the emergency medical dispatcher.
  • Assess, record and discuss patient injuries and condition with the physician, including any treatments provided and reactions to treatments or drugs.
  • Clean and decontaminate ambulance after transporting or treating any patient with infectious disease. Report infectious disease with relevant authorities.
  • Administer drugs as appropriate and necessary via injection, intravenous procedures or oral administration under the direction of a physician.
  • Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers, fire department personnel, police and other emergency medical team members as needed to ensure that all applicable personnel are prepared to receive the patient and ensure proper treatment.
  • Must be willing to participate in required training opportunities.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.

Job Purpose & Position Overview

As a fast-thinking paramedic, you know how to keep calm during emergency situations. Your ability to quickly and accurately assess each patient’s medical condition and figure out an appropriate course of treatment is admirable.

  • Normal to light office work which includes the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.

  • Works with minimal to no supervision

Language Requirements:

  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
