Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. is seeking a Paramedic to join the medical team aboard our cruise ships. You will be the first line of medical care, respond to emergencies, treat sick and injured guests and crew, and continue care in the ship's medical center.

You will work with experienced nurses and physicians, triage calls, perform scene assessments, and transfer patients for definitive care. Onboard duties include equipment checks, medications, drills, audits, and on-going staff training.

Qualifications

• Must be nationally registered paramedics with at least 2 years of paramedic experience.
• Current professional certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-standard routine and emergency care to guests and crew.
• Act as first responders, triage calls, assess and treat on scene.
• Transfer patients to shipboard medical center for definitive care.
• Assist with daily walk-in clinics and coordinate with nurses and doctors.

Job description

The Paramedic is a part of the medical team aboard a cruise ship and works alongside experienced nurses and doctors. The Paramedic is the first line of medical care aboard, responds to emergency situations, treats the sick and injured and then continues that care in the medical center as part of cruise ship's medical team.

Job requirements: Nationally registered paramedics with minimum 2 years of paramedic experience and current professional certifications.

Paramedics are responsible for providing high standards of individualized routine and emergency care to guests and crew. Paramedics act as first responders, triaging emergency calls, assessing and treating on the scene, and transferring patients to the shipboard medical center for definitive care. Using specific patient group directives, paramedics can practice autonomously under the authority of doctors, assessing patients and providing treatment and advice for specific conditions. In addition to first response duties, paramedics work closely with shipboard nurses and doctors to attend to patients attending daily walk-in clinics.

Paramedics also perform various technical and non-clinical administrative tasks that support the efficient and safe operation of the medical center under the direction and supervision of the Senior Nurse. Additional duties include equipment checks, medicines and inventory management, participation in drills, audits, inspections, and training of other crew members. Technical skills are learned and practiced on board, such as X-rays acquisition and performing a wide array of laboratory tests and other procedures.
