Job summary

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking a civilian Paramedic to support Pope Army Air Field in Fayetteville, NC. The role requires strong clinical judgment, adherence to local protocol, and the ability to provide medical coverage during high-risk training modules.

The position demands EMT-P certification, completion of a DoD recognized Paramedic program, and at least three years of recent experience. Familiarity with military medical records and data systems is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current National EMT-P Certification or state EMT-Paramedic license.
• Designated Dive Medical Technician & inside tender with related DoD training.
• Familiar with medical data systems (MHS Genesis, ASIMS, AIMWTS, PEPP, HAIMS).
• Three years of Paramedic experience within the last five years.
• CAAHEP-accredited Paramedic program completed within past two years.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and determine treatment per local protocol.
• Triage students unable to train due to medical reasons and coordinate care.
• Provide medical monitoring for student flight and high-risk training modules.
• Respond, stabilize, and activate EMS for emergencies.
• Summarize injuries and care provided to EMS responders.
• Inventory, replace, and clean supplies post-use.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to ensure proper care.
• Coordinate daily with medical director and supervisors for oversight.
• Maintain medical records and share information with medical staff.
• Work non-standard hours, extended shifts, weekends/holidays, up to 40 hrs/week.
• Move over varied terrain and perform demanding physical tasks as required.
• Travel may be required to support training requirements.

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a POTENTIAL opportunity for a civilian Paramedic at Pope Army Air Field in Fayettville, NC.

Job Requirements

• Degree/Education: Possess a High School Diploma, or equivalent.


• Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: 1. Current National EMT-P Certification (National Registry) or state license at the EMT-Paramedic level, or higher.


• Qualifications: Designated Dive Medical Technician & inside tender, graduate of one of the following DoD formal courses: USMC Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsman, US Army Dive Medical Technician course, or US navy Diving Medical Technician course currently CPR certification, EMT-P, or formally trained U.S. Military medic.


• Training: Familiar and able to access medical data systems (MHS Genesis, ASIMS, AIMWTS, PEPP, & HAIMS). Experience with Medical Records review to include military diving and quality control (DD2807, DD2808, and DD2766C, Dental, PHA, and Pressure Test Verification).


• Experience: Three (3) years of experience as Paramedic within the last five (5)


• Board Certification: Successful completion of a CAAHEP- accredited Paramedic program (or a program that has been issued a CoAEMSP \"Letter of Review\") within the past two (2) years.

Core Duties

1. 1. Assess a patient’s condition and determine a course of treatment per local protocol.


2. 2. Provide triage for student(s) incapable to perform in training due to medical and musculoskeletal reasons. Triage will be used to determine:- If student is stable refer all medical conditions to the base Flight Medicine Clinic.- If student is stable with exclusively musculoskeletal condition refer to Athletic Trainers for assessment and reconditioning.- If student is unstable will activate Emergency Management System (EMS) and arrange for transport to nearest emergency center.


3. 3. Assigned to student flight for medical monitoring of all high-risk training event modules to provide medical coverage and monitoring that include aquatic and land-based training.


4. 4. Respond, stabilize, and activate EMS in response to physical trauma, heat stroke, near drowning episodes or other emergencies.


5. 5. Summarize nature of injury and emergency care rendered to the receiving EMS responders.


6. 6. Inventory, replace, and clean all supplies and equipment after use.


7. 7. Work with a multidisciplinary human performance team that includes other medical professionals to ensure the proper care and health monitoring of all students (i.e., physicians, sports medicine provider, athletic trainers, physical therapists, operational psychologists, strength coaches, etc.).


8. 8. Coordinate with contracted or military medical director, government supervisor, preceptor and /or lead paramedic daily for proper medical oversight and direction in accordance with national and state EMT-P and Paramedic guidelines.


9. 9. Keep accurate records of all injuries, method of treatment, rehabilitation, and medical releases. During normal operations, provide relevant information to SW medical staff to support the students’ medical needs.


10. 10. Work a non-standard schedule, extended hours, and/or rotating shifts which may include early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays, but not to exceed 40 hours per week. The Contractor shall be flexible and may need to deviate from the typical work week schedule.


11. 11. The work requires some physical exertion, such as walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces as well as time spent outdoors in extreme temperatures and variable weather conditions. Work can require prolonged standing indoors or outdoors, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. HCW is required to maintain strength, coordination, and stamina to manage and operate exercise and medical equipment. The HCWs physical conditioning must be sufficient to demonstrate and perform various exercise procedures and the ability to perform under stress, including lifting heavy weights potentially up to 100 lbs., squatting, sitting, running, jumping, bending, walking, crawling (low/high profile) for up to 25 meters, and prolonged standing. The position requires ability to move over, around, and through obstacles to a height of 10 feet, and up to 1.5 mile over rough terrain in extreme temperatures.


12. 12. Visits or extended duties in these locations or sites are necessary to observe performance/events, to survey, to conduct planning, etcetera to ensure mission accomplishment. Some agility and strength may be required in executing medical coverage in these operational environments.


13. 13. Work may require travel away from the normal duty station in order to support training requirements.
