Job summary

Air Evac Lifeteam in Alabama is seeking a Flight Paramedic to join our team of air transportation experts to safely transport patients to and from medical facilities as well as scene call work. You will focus on safety and high-quality patient care.

The role requires EMT-P licensure, 3+ years in 911/critical care, and certifications such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP; FP-C preferred, with ITLS/PHTLS and NREMT-P possible requirements.

Qualifications

  • EMT-P license/certification current in assigned state(s).
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP and trauma certifications required before flight status.
  • FP-C preferred and must be obtained within 24 months of hire.
  • Instructor certs in BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, ITLS/PHTLS preferred.
  • NREMT-P certification may be required in the assigned area.

Responsibilities

  • Submit electronic patient care records for each dispatched flight within the timeframe.
  • Perform daily base checks, including narcotic counts.
  • Provide pre‑hospital and intra‑hospital ALS care from first contact to transfer of care.
  • Maintain competency through ongoing labs and clinical experiences.
  • Track licensure, certifications, continuing education, safety, and procedures in the Education Manual.
  • Maintain all equipment and supplies used by emergency programs.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues, EMS, hospitals, and the public.
  • Attend pre‑mission briefings and mission debriefings and complete required documentation.
  • Assist in pre‑mission liftoff checklist and provide pilot support as needed.
  • Follow safety standards to ensure safety of self, crew, patient, and equipment.
  • Conduct aircraft safety briefings as needed.
  • Fill open shifts within the assigned area as directed.

Education

EMT-P license/certification

We’re hiring a Flight Paramedic to work with our team of air transportation experts to safely transport patients to and from medical facilities as well as scene call work. The role focuses on safety and efficient patient care as a key pillar of our services.

Responsibilities
  • Complete and submit electronic patient care records for each dispatched flight within the specified timeframe.
  • Perform daily base checks, including narcotic counts.
  • Provide pre‑hospital and intra‑hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility, maintaining thorough documentation.
  • Maintain competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills through ongoing laboratory and clinical experiences.
  • Track and maintain documentation of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, safety, and advanced procedures in the Employee Education Manual.
  • Use and routinely maintain all equipment and supplies used by emergency programs.
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS representatives, hospitals, and the public.
  • Act as a medical flight member, attending pre‑mission briefings and mission debriefings and completing necessary documentation.
  • Assist in pre‑mission liftoff checklist and provide pilot assistance when needed (radio, navigation, visual observation).
  • Comply with safety standards to ensure the safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment prior to liftoff.
  • Conduct aircraft safety briefings as needed.
  • Fill open or vacant shifts within the assigned area as directed by the Regional Director.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a 911 or critical care setting.
  • Current EMT‑P license/certification in the state(s) served by the assigned area.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and trauma certification before flight status.
  • Advanced Certification (FP‑C) preferred, required within 24 months of hire.
  • Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, and ITLS/PHTLS preferred.
  • NREMT‑P certification may be required in the assigned area.
