Responsibilities

  • Compile, prepare, and summarize materials for discovery, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Summarize depositions and transcripts; maintain case files and perform basic legal research.
  • Index, track, and control document discovery and exhibits for depositions and trials.
  • Assist attorneys in court and during witness interviews; support deposition and trial preparation.
  • Review documents for relevance and privilege per guidelines; compile materials for FOIA, production requests, etc.

**The Opportunity:**CACI is seeking a Paralegal (Legal Assistant I) to support the Department of Justice’s mission. This position plays a critical role and involves working on high-profile cases. We are looking for candidates who are able to work in an office setting. Paralegal duties focus on litigation support and preparation for upcoming trials. This is an opportunity for you to provide case management and database maintenance assistance in a litigation support capacity. You will also gain invaluable experience using automated litigation support and eDiscovery tools and resources to add to your skillset. The Paralegal (Legal Assistant I) role works closely with federal prosecutors supporting the Market, Government Consumer Fraud Unit in a fast-paced setting and assist in the investigation and prosecution of various matters to enforce the laws of the United States, up to and including support assistance for witness interviews, deposition preparation, and in-courtroom trial support. In this role, you will perform litigation services while complying with established procedures, including but not limited to the following: • Compiles, prepares, and summarizes relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents. • Summarizes depositions and other transcripts; maintains case files and performs simple legal research. • Indexes, tracks and controls document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery). • Indexes and tracks exhibits and other material at depositions and at trial. • Prepares exhibit cross-references. • Assists attorneys in courtroom. • Reviews documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria. • Other examples of the types of work to be performed include compilation of documents for FOIA, production requests, Congressional inquiries, etc. **Qualifications:** *Required:* • Requires paralegal certificate, or a four-year college degree. • Additionally, at least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (including internships) related to business, finance or accounting, project or document management, policy, research, government staffing, publishing; or equivalent experience. • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, thorough knowledge and hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems. • Requires technological proficiency in Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). • Must have an understanding on how electronically stored information (computer files) work within an operating system including experience effectively managing, organizing, and analyzing digital files and folders. • Transferable skills related to Electronically Stored Information (ESI) tools and eDiscovery procedures and resources. • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important. • DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required). *Desired:* • Automated litigation support experience. • Document review and Relativity experience.-**What You Can Expect:****A culture of integrity.**At CACI, we place character and innovation at the center of everything we do. The pay and benefits provided for this position will meet or exceed the minimum required amounts detailed in the wage determination issued by the Department of Labor and made applicable to this position, as incorporated into CACI’s government contract for the work location.**Minimum Required Hourly Wage:**$25.58There are a host of other factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographical location, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
