Job summary

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking a Paralegal to join our organized, professional team in Springfield. The role supports legal activities, manages court-related tasks, and coordinates with staff attorneys to prepare and file documents.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of four years of college with coursework in legal, pre-legal, English, statistics.
• 2 years of experience in a law office or legal area preferred with ability to draft legal material and analyze facts.
• 2 years of experience in a public or private organization applying clear writing and reporting.
• 2 years of experience organizing facts, evidence, and precedents for legal staff.
• 2 years of experience presenting statistical data.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Paralegal in DCFS and support court proceedings.
• Attend court hearings as directed.
• Review files on call sheet to ensure receipt and filing.
• Perform special projects and prepare statistical or other reports.
• Receive and process subpoenas and obtain legal materials for staff.
• Files court documents and serves papers under supervision.
• Perform other duties within scope of role.
