Job summary

Akerman LLP in West Palm Beach, FL seeks a highly motivated Labor and Employment Paralegal to support a heavy volume of employment litigation and counseling within a fast-paced team. Hybrid role with in-office support as needed, and a focus on utilizing AI and legal tech to improve efficiency.

The successful candidate will manage case work, perform legal research, draft pleadings, and coordinate discovery while maintaining strong client relationships and professional judgment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience in a law firm environment; labor and employment experience preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of Florida and federal employment law procedures and agency practice (EEOC, FCHR, DOL).
• AI experience preferred but not required.
• Experience with iManage and Relativity.
• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work product.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, solution-focused.
• Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Support attorneys through employment litigation and counseling matters, including agency charges, investigations, and hearings.
• Manage case management and hearing/trial preparation, including analyzing legal documents, witness background research, and discovery materials.
• Draft pleadings, discovery, position statements, and correspondence.
• Conduct legal research using Westlaw and Lexis.
• Manage discovery and e-discovery workflows, including document review and production.
• Assist with EEOC, FCHR, and DOL charge responses and administrative proceedings.
• Use AI and legal technology tools to improve research, document review, and workflow efficiency.
• Maintain case files, calendars, and deadlines.
• Prepare deposition summaries, exhibits, and hearing materials.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients.
• Partner with leadership on process improvement initiatives.

Our West Palm Beach office is seeking a highly motivated Labor and Employment Paralegal who is technologically savvy to join our Labor & Employment Practice Group. The successful candidate will support a heavy volume of employment litigation and counseling practice in a fast-paced team environment, while applying AI and legal technology tools to improve efficiency and accuracy. This is a hybrid position with required in office support when needed.
