Job summary

Washington County District Attorney’s Office is seeking a Paralegal to support the General Felony Team. You will perform legal research, compile evidence for criminal proceedings, and assist with trial preparation, including handling exhibits and case documents.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in legal studies or a related field (or an ABA‑approved paralegal program) with two years of professional legal support experience, and can pass a criminal background check.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in legal studies or a related field from an accredited institution, and two years of professional legal support experience.
• Completion of an ABA-accredited paralegal program is preferred but not required.
• Experience in criminal prosecution is preferred.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform legal research and prepare documents for prosecutors.
• Compile and organize evidence and information for criminal proceedings.
• Assist with trial preparation and management of exhibits and case files.
• Communicate effectively and discreetly with team members and others involved in cases.

• Prepare legal documents and trial forms typical of court proceedings.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in legal studies or a related field from an accredited institution, or the completion of a comprehensive formal paralegal program; AND two (2) years of professional legal support experience, including legal research, case preparation support for prosecutors, trial preparation, or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Completion of a Paralegal program approved by the American Bar Association
• Experience performing paralegal work in the area of criminal prosecution

Additional Requirements

• Successful completion of a criminal background check
