Location: Dallas, TX
Job Type: Full-Time | In-Office
Schedule: Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Salary: $85,000-$105,000, dependent on experience
Industry: Commercial Construction/Corporate Legal

About the Opportunity

We are recruiting on behalf of an established, growing commercial general contractor in Dallas, TX seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its in-house legal team.

This is a newly created, growth-driven position that will work closely with the company’s General Counsel and senior leadership team. The ideal candidate is an experienced transactional or corporate paralegal who enjoys taking ownership, keeping complex matters organized, and helping create efficient processes within a growing legal department.

For someone coming from a larger general contractor, construction company, corporate legal department, or law firm, this is an opportunity to step into a highly visible role with significant responsibility and long-term growth potential.

The company is also 100% employee-owned through an ESOP, giving employees the opportunity to participate in the long-term success and value they help create.

What You’ll Do

As the Paralegal, you will support the General Counsel across contracts, corporate matters, construction‑related transactions, claims, legal operations, and document management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare, revise, organize, and manage contracts and legal documents using company‑approved templates and standardized processes.
  • Assist with the review, editing, redlining, and preparation of owner contracts, subcontract agreements, addenda, and other commercial agreements.
  • Customize existing contract templates based on project‑specific requirements and previously negotiated terms.
  • Conduct initial issue spotting and **escalate** non‑standard contract terms, risks, or legal concerns to General Counsel.
  • Organize documentation and support due diligence for construction, corporate, real estate, and other business transactions.
  • Track critical dates, contractual requirements, approvals, deliverables, notices, and closing requirements.
  • Maintain organized legal and corporate files, ensuring current documents and final versions are accurately stored and easily accessible.
  • Help improve and standardize internal legal document organization, naming conventions, templates, and processes.
  • Support claims and dispute matters by creating claim files, gathering and organizing documentation, and tracking deadlines.
  • Assist with litigation holds, document collection, and coordination between internal operations teams and outside counsel.
  • Support outside counsel billing, matter reporting, and other legal operations functions.
  • Help develop, edit, and maintain internal legal policies, procedures, contract templates, and standardized legal documents.
  • Attend meetings with General Counsel, company leadership, and internal stakeholders and assist with follow‑up and documentation.
  • Help ensure compliance with internal policies, contractual requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
What We’re Looking For

The strongest candidates will bring 5+ years of transactional, corporate, construction, or commercial paralegal experience and be comfortable working independently while knowing when an issue should be escalated to counsel.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience as a Corporate Paralegal, Transactional Paralegal, Construction Paralegal, Contracts Paralegal, or similar legal professional.
  • Experience supporting a commercial general contractor, construction company, real estate organization, corporate legal department, or transactional law practice is strongly preferred.
  • Experience reviewing and preparing commercial contracts, subcontracts, owner agreements, addenda, or similar transactional documents.
  • Working knowledge of contract law and transactional processes.
  • Experience with claims, disputes, litigation support, or coordination with outside counsel is a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent document management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work directly and professionally with executives, operational leaders, employees, and outside counsel.
  • High degree of confidentiality, professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
  • Ability to identify potential issues, use sound judgment, and **escalate** matters appropriately.

A Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA‑approved program is preferred, but significant directly relevant paralegal experience will also be considered.

Who Will Thrive Here

This role is particularly well suited for someone who:

  • Wants to move from a larger legal department or firm into a position with greater ownership and visibility.
  • Enjoys being the person who keeps contracts, deadlines, documents, and legal matters organized.
  • Is comfortable working closely with General Counsel rather than operating within a large legal hierarchy.
  • Can take an established template or process and confidently adapt it to the matter at hand.
  • Sees opportunities to improve organization and processes rather than simply working around inefficiencies.
  • Values stability and is looking for a company where they can build a long‑term career.
  • Enjoys a collaborative, relationship‑oriented workplace and wants to help shape a growing in‑house legal function.
Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a successful, family‑founded commercial construction company that has retained a close‑knit, team‑oriented culture while continuing to grow.

Benefits include:

  • 100% employee‑owned company (ESOP)
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and long‑term disability coverage
  • Employer‑paid premiums for select benefits
  • Health Savings Account with employer contributions
  • Paid vacation with immediate accrual
  • Paid holidays
  • TollTag coverage
  • Long‑term professional growth opportunities
  • Direct exposure to General Counsel and company leadership
  • Opportunity to help build and strengthen an expanding in‑house legal function

The company is 100% employee‑owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, meaning employee‑owners are able to directly benefit from the company's long‑term success by way of their stock in the company. The ESOP is in addition to the 401k; therefore, each employee is able to build wealth via two retirement accounts.
