Job summary

Farnsworth Group, a nationally recognized architectural, engineering, and surveying firm, seeks an experienced paralegal to support our legal team in Chicago. You’ll manage contract lifecycles, maintain records, and assist with risk and governance documents.

This role requires a paralegal certificate, a bachelor’s degree, and 10–15 years in legal-support, with 5+ years in professional-services such as AEC. Strong MS Office skills and contract-management software experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate.
• 10–15 years of paralegal or closely related legal-support experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in supporting an architecture, engineering, construction, or other professional-services organization.
• Experience managing contracts and maintaining contract records throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Experience using a contract-management system, legal matter-management platform, or comparable document-management system.
• Experience supporting claims and claims-management activities, particularly professional-services, professional-liability, construction, or project-related claims.
• Experience working with insurance policies, certificates of insurance, endorsements, and contractual insurance requirements.
• Strong organizational, written communication, time-management, attention-to-detail, confidentiality, and Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Manage the contract lifecycle from intake to filing and maintenance.
• Maintain the contract-management system and documentation for accuracy and accessibility.
• Review, revise, and redline contracts and related legal documents.
• Support claims and project records for professional-services and construction.
• Track insurance policies, endorsements, and coverage requirements.
• Assist with corporate records, governance materials, registrations, and filings.
• Coordinate legal department administrative activities including calendars, deadlines, and invoicing.
• Prepare, proofread, format, and organize contracts, correspondence, and reports.
• Maintain confidentiality of privileged and sensitive information.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage the contract lifecycle, including intake, routing, tracking, execution, filing, and maintenance of client, consultant, vendor, and other business agreements.
• Maintain the contract-management system and ensure agreements, amendments, and supporting documentation are accurate, complete, and readily accessible.
• Assist with reviewing, comparing, revising, and redlining contracts and related legal documents.
• Support professional-services and construction-related claims by organizing claim files, project records, correspondence, and supporting documentation.
• Track and maintain insurance policies, certificates of insurance, endorsements, and contractual insurance requirements.
• Assist with corporate records, entity documentation, governance materials, registrations, and related filings.
• Coordinate legal department administrative activities, including calendar and deadline tracking, document filing, records retention, meeting support, invoice processing, and follow-up on action items.
• Prepare, proofread, format, and organize contracts, correspondence, reports, presentations, and other legal or business documents.
• Maintain the confidentiality of privileged, proprietary, personal, and sensitive business information.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate.
• 10–15 years of paralegal or closely related legal-support experience.
