The Paralegal is assigned to specific matters, clients, projects and/or attorneys and is responsible for providing high-level paralegal support through extensive coordination, legal research, and document management for the firm’s Consumer Financial Services litigation practice group. There is an annual billable requirement to this role.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Conduct legal research using online research platforms, including Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, court-record systems, and other legal resources.
  • Analyze, interpret, and summarize legal authorities, including case law, statutes, regulations, constitutional provisions, treatises, legal publications, and other materials relevant to the practice area.
  • Utilize e-discovery, litigation support, and case management databases to conduct searches, manage case materials, load transcripts, and code documents.
  • Assist with all phases of discovery, including document collection, organization, review, analysis, indexing, Bates labeling, and production.
  • Prepare deposition materials, including deposition summaries, witness files, exhibits, and deposition notebooks.
  • Organize and maintain matter files by accurately managing correspondence, pleadings, discovery materials, transcripts, exhibits, and other case-related documents within document management and collaboration platforms.
  • Retrieve, review, and analyze public records and information from government agencies, courts, and online resources.
  • Draft, prepare, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, filings, and other materials appropriate to the assigned practice area.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including drafting pretrial materials, organizing exhibits and trial notebooks, and coordinating war room and courtroom logistics.
  • Perform substantive paralegal work and other responsibilities as assigned by attorneys and practice group leadership.
  • Maintain the firm's official matter files and ensure compliance with document management protocols.
  • Monitor case deadlines, prioritize competing assignments, and take proactive steps to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while exercising strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and professional staff across practice groups and offices to support the efficient delivery of legal services.
  • Participate in the training, mentoring, and professional development of paralegals and other team members.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with applicable ethical obligations, professional standards, and firm policies.
  • Accurately record client billable and non-billable time and meet established billable-hour expectations.
  • Effectively manage workload, communicate capacity concerns, and escalation issues when necessary to ensure service and deadline commitments are met.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all clients, attorney, and firm information.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of litigation procedures, court rules, filing requirements, and legal terminology, with the ability to apply that knowledge effectively in a complex legal environment.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, including the ability to manage large volumes of documents, filings, and records while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.

  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and colleagues.
