Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Paraeducator Special Education to support students with diverse needs in a school setting. This full-time role runs 184 days per year, 6.5 hours daily, with an anticipated start 8/31/26.

Insurance benefits are available for positions 6+ hours daily. Responsibilities include managing behavior, monitoring and recording student progress across academics and daily living skills, and assisting with basic care tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Personal Care Assistant certification must be completed within 30 days of start date.
• 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits or an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or completion of the ParaEducator exam/ParaPro exam.
• Documentation will be required for certifications and transcripts.
• Good communications, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills.

Responsibilities

Paraeducator Special Education

Full-Time 184 days/6.5 hrs/day

This position can be filled after a 5-day posting period.

Duties:

• managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom)
• monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing , grooming, social skills, etc.)
• managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Personal Care Assistant certification required to be completed within 30 days of start date. Candidates must have completed60 semester/ 90 quarter credits orobtained an associate degree (or higher)from a regionally accredited institutionorhave passed the ParaEducator exam or ParaPro exam. (Documentation will be required) Good communications, interpersonal and recordkeeping skills. Ability/desire to work with technology and computers. Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff. Ability to supervise students. Ability to take direction. Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Ability to perform position responsibilities, including physical factors, work devices, materials handling, data functions and people functions, but not limited to toileting, feeding and self-care procedures, implementing behavioral management program; maintaining student data; working with students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal and/or physical behavior.Must be physically working in the building.

Rate of Pay:

• $20.85/hour to $24.15/hour DOQ with K-12 experience
• $22.00/hour to $25.30/hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits from a regionallyaccreditedinstitution, DOQ with K-12 experience*
• $22.85/hour to $26.15/hour with BA degree from a regionally accreditedinstitution, DOQ with K-12 experience

*Candidates must have completed60 semester/90 quarter credits

or

obtained an associate's degree (or higher)from a regionally accredited institution

or

have passed the ParaEducator exam or ParaPro exam. (Documentation will be required)

Special Ed Paras servingCenter based students and classrooms 50 percent or more of their time shall receive an additional $0.50 per hour.

Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program shall receive an additional $1.00 per hour. Special Ed Paras at River Trail Learning Center shall receive an additional $1.50/hour.
