CHANDLER UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT seeks a Paraeducator for Special Education (Learning Disability, Inclusion/Resource) to provide instructional support under the supervision of the special education teacher. You will assist students with varying disabilities in a structured environment and help with IEP goals.

Calendar includes 1902 FT / 1802 PT (9-month) options; starting at $17.32/hour with competitive benefits such as PTO, holidays, retirement, health and life insurance, and wellness credits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Title 1 schools may require an associate degree or 60 semester hours and a district-administered parapro exam.
• CPR/First Aid certification provided by the district.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment and computer software.
• Satisfactory criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Support students individually or in small groups to reinforce material and skills.
• Assist with social-emotional development and behavior plans to foster a positive learning environment.
• Actively supervise students during activities and emergencies; report concerns.
• Help maintain a quiet, orderly classroom and support teacher with daily tasks.
• Communicate student needs and confidential information to the teacher.
• Be flexible, work as part of a team, and take on other duties as assigned.

Performance Pay

New Hire Experience Credit

Starting hourly rate will be determined based on experience in a full time, paid job with like duties held in the previous 10 years. 1% per year starting in year 2, not to exceed the max hiring range of 5%

New Hire Education Credit

Associates degree or higher in a like field may be considered for a 1% increase, combined with experience not to exceed 5% in addition to starting hourly rate for position.

Job Goal

Provide instructional support under the supervision of the special education teacher in a special education environment or as required by an individual education plan (IEP). A paraeducator will provide support to students with varying high-incidence disabilities (i.e. specific learning disabilities, speech-language disabilities, other health impairments, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• TITLE 1 Schools Only: Associate's Degree or 60 semester hours from an accredited university, or satisfactory results on an AZ state-approved competency exam (parapro exam is administered by district at no cost to employee)
• CPR/First Aid (certification provided)
• Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer and related software
• Satisfactory criminal background check
