Job summary

Juneau School District is seeking a paraeducator to support Montessori Borealis Public School, primarily assisting students with reading, writing, math, computers, and vocational education. You will work individually or in small groups, recording progress and behavior.

The position is full-time for 9 months at 35 hours weekly, with a starting wage of $24.40 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, PERS, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required.
• Some prior experience working with school age children preferred.
• CPR, first aid and district approved behavioral management techniques may be required.
• Must have either an AA degree, or 48 semester hours, or be willing to take and pass the WorkKeys Exam (support available).

Position Summary

Working primarily with students who are not in special education, presents material and activities to improve skills in assigned areas that may include reading, writing, math, computers and/or vocational education. Works individually or in small groups. Records grades and other measures of students' progress and behavior.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma.
• Some prior experience working with school age children preferred.

Compensation:

This is a full-time 9-month position, working 35 hours per week, with a starting salary of $24.40 per hour. This position is represented by the Juneau Education Support Staff (JESS) bargaining agreement.
