Job summary

Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) is seeking a Paraeducator to support certified staff in delivering educational services and individualized assistance to students. The role emphasizes inclusive learning environments, supporting students with diverse needs, and helping implement IEP objectives.

Responsibilities include reinforcing reading and math, assisting with instructional tasks, materials preparation, and monitoring progress.

Qualifications

  • For Title I-funded programs: paraeducator requirements include a high school diploma or GED plus acceptable assessment scores (ParaPro or Para Pathways).
  • For non-Title I-funded programs, a high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Prior experience working with children with disabilities is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, and other skills.
  • Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning.
  • Assist staff in administration and correction of exercises, tests, and assessments.
  • Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials.
  • Assist with record-keeping to document student learning and performance.
  • Support classroom behavioral management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
  • Supervise students in non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, etc.).
  • Accompany and supervise students on field trips to ensure safety and inclusion.
  • Contribute to IEP processes and act as a resource for evaluation teams.
