Educational Support Professional : Paraeducator I: Multilingual Support (Spanish)
Starting Date: Aug 1, 2026. Full‑time. Salary: $17.75 to $21.20 per hour. This role supports Buena Vista Elementary School’s ESL program, working under a certified teacher to provide instructional support to students in individuals or small groups, reinforce learning, and promote skill development.
Position Summary
This position provides instructional support to students, implementing strategies to meet diverse learning needs, monitoring and documenting progress and behavior, and maintaining accurate classroom records. The role also supports classroom operations by preparing materials, assisting with assessments and attendance, completing clerical tasks, and fostering a positive, structured learning environment across classrooms, playgrounds, lunchrooms, and school activities.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide instructional support to students under the direction of a certified teacher.
- Implement instructional strategies and classroom supports to meet diverse student learning needs.
- Monitor, document, and report student progress and behavior; assist with required records and classroom data.
- Support classroom operations by preparing instructional materials, assisting with assessments, recording attendance, and completing required paperwork.
- Assist students with classroom activities and daily routines to support engagement, independence, and successful participation.
- Promote a positive, structured learning environment by reinforcing school rules and appropriate behavior across settings.
- Supervise students in various environments, including classroom, playground, lunchroom, field trips, and other school activities.
- Perform clerical and organizational tasks: data entry, filing, copying, laminating, inventory management, and ordering supplies.
- Assist with classroom logistics and events such as transitions, drills, and special activities.
- Utilize standard office and classroom technology to support instructional and operational needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Instructional support practices for general education classrooms.

Qualifications
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Title 1 Schools Only:
- Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education; or
- Obtained an associate’s or higher degree; or
- Demonstrated rigorous standard of quality through a formal state or local academic assessment (e.g., ACT-Work Keys and ETS-ParaPro).
- Preferred: Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or related setting.
- Preferred: Associate’s degree or higher in education or related field.
- Preferred: Bilingual skills relevant to district population.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
Work involves a combination of light to occasionally heavy physical activity, with most of the day requiring movement between sitting, standing, and walking. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently, and may involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching, and fine‑motor activities. The position requires constant seeing, hearing, and verbal communication.
Salary & Benefits
Employees in this category will receive the following for the 2025–2026 school year:
- Non‑Recurring Pay: 7% of base salary, distributed as 3.5% on the November paycheck and 3.5% on the May paycheck.
- Staffing Stability Incentive (Adams Elementary, Galileo Middle School, and Mitchell High School): ESP employees will receive the equivalent of one salary step divided over 12 pay periods.
Salary is based on the 2025–2026 ESP Salary Schedule for Group B positions, grade A10. New hires are placed on the twenty‑five step system; rehires receive the same step as when resigned plus any new experience.
