Job summary

Dieringer School District is hiring a paraeducator to support teachers and students in a inclusive classroom setting. You will assist with instruction, reinforce learning, and help implement IEP plans while maintaining a respectful learning environment.

You will need to be at least 18 with a high school diploma or GED, pass the para assessment or have higher education credits, and clear a fingerprint/background check. A professional, collaborative approach and reliable attendance are essential.

Qualifications

  • 18 years or older with high school diploma or GED.
  • Passing score on para assessment or sufficient higher education credits or AA degree or higher.
  • Successful completion of fingerprinting and background check.
  • History of good attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction under teacher supervision to reinforce objectives and support IEP goals.
  • Follow teacher plans and classroom schedules, sometimes working independently.
  • Monitor daily schedule and behavior plans to keep a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Establish positive rapport with staff, students, and parents.
  • Supervise students in lunchroom and playground.
  • Participate in training activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by teacher or administrator.

Job description

PARAEDUCATOR

Paraeducators provide support and assistance to teachers in the classroom. They help manage students, provide individualized attention, reinforce learning, and assist with lesson implementation. Paraeducators often work with students who have special needs, helping them with academic tasks, behavior management and social skills. Their role is essential in creating an inclusive and effective learning environment for all students.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives; implementing IEP plans; and ensuring the students' access to his/her least restrictive environment.
  • Follow teacher instructions and plan of classroom schedules, working independently at times
  • Monitors students' daily schedule and behavior plan for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with staff, students, and parents
  • Supervise students in the lunchroom, playground
  • Participate in training activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by teacher or administrator
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. 18 years or older with high school diploma or GED

  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with staff and students

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Work is performed primarily in a school setting and may include classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, buses, and other school environments. The position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and occasional work at floor level. The position may involve exposure to varying noise levels, bodily fluids, and unexpected student movements or behaviors.
