Job summary

Granite School District in Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking a paraeducator to assist in K-3 literacy under the supervision of the principal and classroom teachers. This is a part-time, 10-hour-per-week position with schedule details to be determined.

Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, supporting classroom activities, tutoring small groups, monitoring student progress, and maintaining confidentiality.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the principal and teacher(s), the paraeducator assists teachers in a variety of capacities in the instruction and supervision of students. Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are required and are essential functions of this position.

Required Education and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• If working in a Title 1 school, one of the following:
  • 48 hours of college credit; or
  • pass the ParaPro exam.

Working Environment

• Work setting is mainly in the classroom.
• May be asked to work inside and outside the building to accomplish assigned tasks. Working conditions can be in hot and cold weather.
• May experience stress from disruptive students and/or groups of students.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and/or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch. Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Must be able to stand/sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift, and or move up to 20lbs.
