Job summary

Lake Washington School District in Redmond is seeking a paraeducator to assist teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile.

This 180-day calendar, 6.75-hour day position supports students' health care needs, helps develop daily living and behavioral skills, and may supervise students in library, classrooms, or on and off buses.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher OR completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours.
• Passed an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment with a score of 455 or higher, OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students with diverse needs.
• Support students' health care needs and develop daily living and behavioral skills.
• Assist staff with classroom preparation, retrieval, use and storage of equipment and supplies; supervise students in various settings.

Education

Associate degree (AA) or higher OR two years of college credit (72 quarter hours)

Passed ParaPro or Paraprofessional assessment per credential requirements

Location: Redmond High School (located within the Redmond Learning Community)

Hourly Rate: $30.79/hour position (SC7ParaEd26-27.pdf)) Position is eligible for membership in the Teamsters Local Union No. 763 which is part of the Lake Washington School District Trades Bargaining Council No. 763 (TBC).

Job Summary

May supervise and assist students in library, classrooms, resource rooms, self-contained classroom, playgrounds, or getting on and off a bus.

Education And Experience Requirements

Must be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Hold an Associate degree (AA) or higher OR

Completed two years of study equivalent to 72 college quarter credit hours, OR

Passed an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of 455 or higher, OR have passed the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a score of 220 or higher.

Official documentation will be required upon hire.

Must pass criminal background check
