Job summary

IPG is seeking a Process Engineer – Paper Manufacturing to provide process engineering support across all manufacturing operations with a primary focus on paper processes. The role serves as the site's technical expert, helping identify bottlenecks, improve product quality and throughput, and drive continuous improvement initiatives at our Blythewood, SC facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• 3+ years of process engineering experience in paper manufacturing or related environment.
• Strong understanding of paper manufacturing processes and process optimization techniques.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot paper machine issues and improve production performance.
• Experience with root cause analysis and manufacturing problem-solving.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Support process improvement initiatives across all manufacturing operations and production equipment.
• Serve as primary technical resource for paper manufacturing processes and related production challenges.
• Investigate paper machine performance issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to improve stability, quality, yield, and throughput.
• Analyze production data and process trends to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement across the facility.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and optimize production performance.
• Lead continuous improvement projects focused on waste reduction, process capability, machine efficiency, and product consistency.
• Support new product introductions, process trials, and manufacturing scale-up activities.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and operating procedures.
• Provide technical training and coaching to operations personnel on process controls and best practices.
• Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process modifications throughout the plant.
• Prepare and communicate project updates, findings, and recommendations.
• Develop, implement and communicate work instructions, procedures and other documentation as necessary.
