Job summary

New-Indy Containerboard LLC in Hartford City, IN seeks an experienced supervisor to direct mill technicians and oversee the production process. You will coach teams, ensure safety, quality, and on-grade uptime, and coordinate maintenance with the Paper Machine Superintendent.

Responsibilities include orienting and training new employees, conducting toolbox talks, managing performance, analyzing data for continuous improvement, and enforcing policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Coach mill technicians to meet safety, production, quality, and uptime goals.
• Oversee orientation, training, toolbox talks, and employee performance management.
• Lead RCFA efforts for paper breaks and mechanical failures with maintenance personnel.
• Plan and schedule mill maintenance shutdowns with the Paper Machine Superintendent.
• Ensure basic care rounds are performed and operator maintenance is completed.

Job description

A person who is experienced in the process of papermaking. The person will be able to direct mill technicians and oversee the performance of the production process.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage Mill Technicians serving as a coach in meeting goals for safety, production, quality, and on-grade up-time.
• Responsible for new employee orientation & training, housekeeping, daily “toolbox talks", AND employee performance management.
• Works with employees and sub-contractor maintenance personnel to perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for paper breaks and mechanical failures.
• Assesses individual training needs and plans training.
• Sets employee performance expectations and evaluates performance. Works with the employee to correct any performance deficiencies.
• Works with Paper Machine Superintendent to plan and execute mill maintenance shutdowns.
• Maintains equipment through assuring “basic care rounds” are completed and operator maintenance is performed as required.
• Assists employees in gathering and analyzing data used in continuous improvements plans.
• Champions employees to continually look for ways of improving processes and communicates needs with managers.
• Explains and consistently enforces policies and procedures.
• Works with employees to resolve issues or complaints; communicates employee concerns with the Paper Machine Superintendent and Human Resources Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 15 Non-Exempt Mill Technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
