Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Roanoke Rapids Mill seeks a Project Engineer to manage capital and maintenance projects from concept through completion. You will solve complex problems, coordinate cross-functional teams, and drive safety, quality, cost, and schedule in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Engineering, you will coordinate projects across Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and vendors while supporting reliability and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering field.
• Five+ years of related experience with emphasis on engineering capital projects preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a paper mill environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage capital and maintenance projects from planning through execution.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and contractors.
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
• Develop drawings, specifications, and execution plans communicating project requirements.
