Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Bag Machine Operator C in Houston to operate and maintain paper bag machinery, ensuring high quality output and adherence to procedures.

You will set up, monitor, and adjust equipment, perform quality inspections, and collaborate with QA and maintenance teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, reliability, and flexibility for extended shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Willing to work a 2-2-3 schedule with 12-hour shifts and day/night rotation.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds routinely.
• Experience as a Machine Operator in paper bags or similar manufacturing is a plus.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and machine control interface operations.
• Attend to non-standard work hours as necessary.
• Capable of managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.

Responsibilities

• Set up and calibrate paper bag machinery according to product specifications and production requirements.
• Adjust machine settings such as temperature, speed, and pressure for optimal production conditions.
• Inspect bags for defects and adjust machinery to maintain quality standards.
• Audit quality tests using electronic machines and visual inspections.
• Diagnose jams and malfunctions and perform minor repairs; report issues to maintenance.
• Maintain production records including quantities produced and downtime.
• Adhere to safety protocols and report safety concerns promptly.
• Collaborate with operators, QC, and maintenance to optimize efficiency.
• Relieve team members during breaks and assist others as needed.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and boost efficiency.
