Job summary

APP Engineering, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an entry level technician/manufacturing professional to support the mechanical and electrical construction of panels used in power substations and plants.

The role includes chassis assembly, basic soldering, and general manufacturing tasks in a electronics environment. The ideal candidate holds an associate degree in EET or similar, can read schematics, and uses hand tools and Windows/MS Office proficiently.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in EET or similar field.
• Experience with basic electronic circuit theory and reading schematics is preferred.
• Ability to use hand tools and basic assembly techniques.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and Windows operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Construct mechanical and electrical panels for transmission line substations and power plants.
• Assemble chassis for power recording equipment.
• Perform circuit board population or wire soldering as needed.
• Engage in general manufacturing tasks and assist with packing and shipping.
• Maintain accurate work records and follow safety guidelines.

Job description

Position: Entry Level Technician / Manufacturing

Education:

The candidate will possess an associate degree or higher in EET or similar.

Starting - Major Duties:

• Mechanical and electrical construction of panels used in transmission line substation and power plants.
• Mechanical and electrical construction of chassis used in power recording equipment
• Possible Circuit board populating or wire soldering
• General manufacturing work
• Assist with packing and shipping.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Other:

• Experience using hand tools such as drills, taps, scales, soldering irons.
• Understanding basic electronic circuit theory and the ability to read electrical schematics.
• Additional experience as an electrical helper, electrical apprentice, electrical maintenance, or mechanic/technician is a plus.
• Experience as a maintenance technician, construction worker/laborer, or general laborer with trades background may also be considered.
• Basic soldering.
• Understanding of point-to-point wiring diagrams and basic mechanical drawings.
• Understanding of Windows operating systems.
• Experience in the power engineering or electric utility industry is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills is a must.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office products
• Excellent work ethic with proven ability to self-direct and motivate.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

- Sit/stand for extended periods.

- Lift 20–25 lbs.

- Electronics manufacturing environment.

Work Schedule

7:30 am to 4:00 pm; overtime as needed.

Flexibility in work hours may be possible for someone needing additional courses towards their AS or BS degree.
