Job summary

LONG Building Technologies is seeking a Control Panel Builder to fabricate, assemble, and wire custom DDC and PLC control panels. The role requires interpreting electrical drawings to install components, mount devices, and complete wiring per specifications and standards.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Engineering and Project Managers, producing accurate “As Built” drawings, and ensuring quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Wear PPE and follow OSHA guidelines while using tools.
• Familiar with panel installation materials and mounting requirements.
• Anticipate panel parts and material needs and track usage.
• Ensure panel components are secured and properly stored (D.C./Pneumatic).
• Coordinate with Engineering and Project Managers to ensure panel and blueprints are accurate and cost-efficient.

Position Purpose

The Control Panel Builder is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and wiring of custom DDC and PLC control panels. This position interprets electrical schematics, panel layouts, and engineering drawings to install control components, terminal blocks, power supplies, relays, controllers, PLC hardware, and related devices. The Panel Builder completes panel wiring and assembly in accordance with project specifications and applicable workmanship standards

Description

The Control Panel Builder is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and wiring of custom DDC and PLC control panels. This position interprets electrical schematics, panel layouts, and engineering drawings to install control components, terminal blocks, power supplies, relays, controllers, PLC hardware, and related devices. The Panel Builder completes panel wiring and assembly in accordance with project specifications and applicable workmanship standards

Pay Range

$57.44 per hr. In accordance with our collective bargaining agreement.

All benefits are provided by the union in accordance with our collective bargaining agreement.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Wear necessary personal protective equipment, know how to safely operate all power tools, hand tools, and instruments necessary for job completion, and perform all duties described below in accordance with company and OSHA guidelines and be knowledgeable in said guidelines.
• Be familiar with panel installation material and control devices and their proper mounting and installation requirements.
• Responsible for anticipating panel parts and material needs, recording material and panel parts usage and material transfer.
• Ensure panel component, (D.D.C. and Pneumatic) security and proper storage.
• Work with Engineering Department and Project Managers to ensure both the control panel and blueprints are accurate, adjusting control panels for cost efficiency and documenting the changes.
• Include accurate “As Built” drawings with all outgoing panels according to the control drawings, job specifications and applicable building codes.
• Perform all work consistently in a quality manner.
• Maintain and secure the panel fabrication department tools.
• Work as a field installer during slow production periods in the panel fabrication dept.
• Be punctual, courteous, professional always.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in UL508A and UL698A panel building desired

Physical Requirements

• This position may require lifting to 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
