Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a pharmacist to educate and counsel patients, families, and the healthcare team on safe, effective medication use. You will participate in direct patient care, inter-disciplinary rounds, and ensure smooth transitions from admission to discharge while supervising technicians and residents.

Responsibilities include reviewing orders, pharmacokinetic dosing, and contributing to practice innovation, safety, and quality improvement in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Active Florida Pharmacist license required.
• Bachelor's degree required; Doctorate preferred.
• PGY2 Oncology residency or equivalent oncology experience preferred.
• Hospital pharmacy experience strongly preferred.

• Perform dispensing, verification and documentation; supervise staff.

Job Description

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am -4:30pm Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team members on safe and effective medication use. Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective medication therapy; actively participate in stewardship, surveillance, and restricted-use programs. Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring smooth transitions of care from admission through discharge and follow-up. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy technicians, interns, students, and residents; support team learning and development. Identify, report, and help resolve medication safety events, adverse drug reactions, and errors. Demonstrate proficiency with EHRs, pharmacy informatics systems, and medication automation to optimize clinical decision support and documentation. Contribute to professional advancement through practice innovation, research, specialty alignment (e.g., critical care, oncology, infectious disease), committee participation, and scholarly activity. Perform all pharmacist functions including compounding, dispensing, verification, and documentation of medications across central, satellite, and IV areas. Review and monitor medication orders and patient profiles to prevent, identify, and resolve drug-related problems; complete pharmacist consults and perform pharmacokinetic dosing, monitoring, and adjustments. Other duties as assigned. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and accreditation activities; track performance metrics (e.g., interventions, error reduction, cost savings).

• PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency OR PGY1 Pharmacy Residency plus 1 years of oncology/hematology/BMT experience OR 3+ years oncology/hematology/BMT experience [Preferred]
• Active non-oncology board certification plus 3 years oncology/hematology/BMT experience [Preferred]
