Responsibilities

• Operate palletizer equipment safely and efficiently
• Maintain quality, safety, and productivity while controlling spoilage
• Handle one or more machines in the production of 2-piece or 3-piece cans
• Identify mechanical problems and perform basic troubleshooting
• Communicate production changes and issues to management and shifts
• Assist and train new palletizer operators as needed
• Adhere to SOPs, 6S housekeeping, and production standards
• Enter data for labels and keep accurate records
• Complete safety, incident, and process control documentation
• Other duties as assigned and accommodate disabilities as needed

Job Description

Location: Plant 37 is located in Hanover, PA. The Plant manufactures 2-piece and 3-piece steel cans for the food industry. There are approximately 95 employees at the Hanover location. The Hanover Plant is located on Route 194 in York County and is in close proximity to York, PA, Gettysburg, PA and the Maryland border.

Position overview: The Palletizer Operator works closely with Supervision and Quality to ensure optimum levels in Quality Inspections, Package identification, and Final packaging. This position is scheduled 5am-5pm on a rotating 4/4 12-hour schedule. The hourly rate of pay is $21.40. Mandatory overtime will be required.

Duties And Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the palletizer operator responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Understand and follow verbal instructions to completion of assigned tasks


• Responsibility of maintaining the palletizer operation of the food can package process with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity and Spoilage


• Responsible for the operations of one or more machines or equipment for the production of 2-piece or 3-piece steel cans


• Ability to safely operate, identify basic mechanical problems, and the maintaining of process equipment


• Communicates all pertinent information between management, co-workers, and between shifts on changes to equipment, production problems or any other related information


• Assists and trains and/or coaching of all new palletizer operators as needed or required


• Applies skills, methods to improve plant production


• Responsible in following SOP’s, Plant Rules, 6S Housekeeping, maintaining equipment and modifications of existing production standards to achieve optimal efficiencies


• Enter information into a computer to generate labels for the pallets


• Accurate and continuous quality checks and record keeping required


• Complete and/or administer necessary documentation such as monthly SAFE cards, accident/near miss/hazard reporting, and data process control input


• Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand 8-12 hours per shift. Ability to climb and descend stairs.

Working Conditions

Generally works in a packaging/warehouse or plant environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to light lifting, warehouse forklift traffic. Production noise level is frequently loud.
