Industrial Painter Responsibilities

• Primary responsibility: Painting and coating surfaces.
• Prepare paints: Use measurement equipment such as viscosity cups, thickness gauges, and gloss gauges to check paint makeup and mix the appropriate compounds based on chemistry.
• Apply paint: Use spray equipment, rollers, or brushes and choose the best tools for primers, pre-finishes, and finishing coats. Some jobs require special equipment such as self-contained suits or protective wear.
• Clean work areas: Clean up after finishing a job and follow guidelines for safe handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste.
