Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Painter at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights to join our environmental services team. This full-time role involves painting, wallpapering and minor repairs across the hospital, with rotating shifts including days, evenings and nights.

You will prepare surfaces, patch and repaint, maintain a clean work area and assist maintenance staff as needed. The position requires 2 years of painting experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 years of painting experience.
  • Knowledge of body mechanics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patches, repairs, and paints surfaces throughout the hospital.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting; spackling, sanding, and cleaning.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly paint storage area.
  • Repair minor wall damages and coordinate with Maintenance for major issues.
  • Hang wallpaper using proper techniques and measure surfaces accurately.
  • Assist other maintenance staff with general repairs as needed.

Hourly Pay Range:

$24.86 - $37.29 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:
  • Position: Painter
  • Location: Northwest Community Hospital
  • Full Time: 40/hrs. week
  • Hours: Rotating Shifts (Days - 7am - 3:30pm, Evenings - 3pm - 11:30pm, Nights - 11pm - 7:30am) Rotating weekends and Holidays
What you will do:

Reporting to the Environmental Services Director/Operations Manager, performs general painting, wallpapering and minor repairs throughout the hospital.

  • Patches, repairs, and paints all types of surfaces within the hospital. Repaints entire areas or touches up as necessary.
  • Properly prepares surfaces for painting, e.g. spackling and sanding, removing fasteners and electrical plates and washing surface areas.
  • Thoroughly cleans area when work is completed; vacuums dust, removes trim tape, and resets furniture and equipment.
  • Repairs minor damages to walls. Sends work order to the Maintenance Coordinator when damage is significant or a leak exists.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly paint storage area.
  • Orders proper paint (colors and type) and painting supplies. Uses only nontoxic latex paints in patient areas.
  • Obtains Director's approval before using enamels, oil base, epoxy paints, paint thinners and combustible or flammable products in designated areas. Stores all combustible/flammable supplies in explosion proof cabinet.
  • Hangs wallpaper using proper techniques. Accurately measures surface; properly prepares the surface prior to wallpapering.
  • Repairs or replaces building architectural finishes such as ceiling and floor tile, doors, woodwork, hardware, etc. Tears down old construction and relocates cabinets and shelving.
  • Repairs equipment and other items requiring simple maintenance such as furniture, wheelchairs, carts and assists other maintenance workers in general repair work as necessary.
What you will need:
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Two years painting experience utilizing different techniques and experience hanging/removing wallpaper preferred.
  • Preferred Skills: Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
