G&W Electric in Bolingbrook, IL is seeking a Painter I to prepare surfaces and apply coatings using paint booth and spray equipment. You will ensure quality finishes, maintain spray equipment, and follow safety procedures to meet production standards.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and up to 1 year in manufacturing. Training will cover masking, paint prep, and proper disposal of paint waste in a state-of-the-art facility.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or combination of work experience and skill development
• 0–1 year experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Able to safely use small hand and power tools
• Able to safely use spray paint and operate paint equipment
• Basic computer skills
• Able to read instructions and understand verbal instructions in English

In this job you will prepare surfaces and apply a variety of coatings to obtain high quality and primer finishes using paint booth and spray equipment.

As a Painter I you will:

• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning and masking
• Check and prepare paint for use in spray equipment
• Maintain and adjust spray guns and associated equipment to ensure proper working condition
• Maintain spray booths and associated equipment to ensure proper working condition
• Ensure all paint related waste is properly labeled and disposed of and equipment is cleaned and in good working order
• Ensure job meets all requirements before leaving work center
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
• Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
• Contribute to team effort by training others in performance of painting tasks as needed
• Inspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operation
• Document actions by completing production and quality forms
• Communicate effectively with others at various levels of the organization.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development

The physical demands of the job are:

• Work is classified as Medium - Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL) by the US Dept of Labor's Dictionary of Occupational Titles
• Frequencies - Occasional (1-33%); Frequent (34-66%); Continuous (67-100%)
• Lifting Demands:
  • Lift up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis floor to waist with assistance
  • Lift up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis floor to waist
  • Carry up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis up to 25 feet
  • Push/Pull up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis
  • Push/Pull more than 40 pounds on an occasional basis with assistance
• Postural Demands:
  • Standing – continuous

• Two-person tasks using assistive devices for lifting, pulling and pushing including engine stands hand trucks, pallet jacks, and hoists
• Must remain medically cleared to wear respirator equipment

What we offer you:

Pay Range is typically between $22.50 to $23.75 per hour
