We are seeking a skilled Painter/Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various painting techniques and a strong understanding of painting projects. This role involves preparing surfaces, applying paint, and ensuring high‑quality finishes for interior and exterior of structures, buildings and other surfaces. It also includes performing pre‑painting tasks using sandpaper, wire brushes, filling holes, and carrying out needed engineering tasks. This role offers potential pathways for progression within the engineering department, including advancement to specialized or senior engineering positions.

Responsibilities
  • Apply paint to surfaces including walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
  • Repair and/or replace defective wall surfaces.
  • Scrape, sand, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
  • Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.
  • Perform drywall repairs including tape, bedding, and application of texture.
  • Apply multiple coats of joint compound and sand surfaces to achieve a paint‑ready finish.
  • Repair drywall damage.
  • Prepare equipment and furniture for painting in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Clean, sand, patch, and prime surfaces before painting.
  • Apply paint or other coatings using various techniques.
  • Mix and match paints.
  • Maintain tools and equipment.
  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Prepare work order material by pulling from stock to meet technical and trade requirements.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including safe operation of lifts.
  • Assist with HVAC system operations and maintenance.
  • Perform basic plumbing and electrical maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor and report on building systems and equipment.
  • Support preventive maintenance schedules and documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering team to ensure building safety and efficiency.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial or commercial painting experience.
  • Proficiency in sheetrock installation, including cutting, fitting, and securing drywall panels.
  • Skilled in taping and bedding drywall, applying joint compound to seams and corners, and sanding to a smooth finish.
  • Ability to perform drywall finishing, including texture application and surface preparation.
  • Competence in surface preparation techniques such as sanding, scraping, power washing, and abrasive blasting.
  • Experience with industrial spray painting, priming, and coating on various surfaces including steel, wood, and concrete.
  • Knowledge of paint mixing, color matching, and application of specialty coatings like varnish, polyurethane, and epoxy.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and company‑specific safety protocols.
