Ducommun Incorporated seeks a Painter for our Parsons, KS facility. The role coats components with paint or rust-proofing agents, operating spray systems and curing ovens to meet mil specifications. It requires reading blueprints, handling hazardous waste, and maintaining a safe, efficient work area.

As part of a manufacturing team, you may perform sand blasting, maskant work, and other duties as needed. Good teamwork and a proactive improvement mindset are valued in this environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with up to 3 years related experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and mylars.
• Familiarity with hazardous waste handling procedures.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Pours premixed paint into reservoir and connects hose to paint pots.
• Adjusts spray pattern and pressure for coating articles.
• Mixes paints with thinner according to the formula.
• Applies dry lube and paint per work order and mil specifications.
• Bakes primers in curing oven per specifications.
• Manages hazardous waste responsibly in the work area.
• Other duties may include sand blasting and masking for chem-mill.

Job description

This shift runs Thursday - Sunday 6pm to 6am.

Tends machine equipped with compressed air spray nozzles that coat products or materials with paint or rust proofing agents.

Job Summary

• Pours premixed paint or lacquer into reservoir of machine and couples hose to paint pots or cup guns.
• Adjusts sleeve on nozzles to attain specified spraying pressure and turns thumbscrew to adjust spray pattern towards articles or materials to be coated.
• Mixes paints with thinner solution according to formula.
• Applies dry lube and paint per work order and mil specifications.
• Bakes certain primers in curing oven per specifications.
• Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
• Other duties as assigned may include but not limited to sand blasting and spraying maskant for chem-mill.

• Ability to operate or learn to operate a mil thickness gauge required.
• Ability to operate a forklift.
• Ability to operate an overhead crane.
• Must be safety oriented.
• Read and understand internal procedures and policies.

• Basic Computer Skills - able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance

Required Experience And Education

• High School Diploma; up to 3 years related experience in job function and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience
• Able to read blueprints and mylars
• Basic Computer Skills - able to learn new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance
• Satisfactorily complete hazardous waste training to ensure compliance.
