Job summary

Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital is seeking a dedicated Painter to maintain the facility's appearance by painting, staining, and finishing interior and exterior surfaces across patient rooms, offices, and common areas.

The role supports a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents and staff. You will prepare surfaces, apply paints and finishes, mix colors for consistency, and follow safety procedures while coordinating with Facilities to minimize disruption.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years painting experience preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare or similar setting preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work on ladders.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, patching, sanding, and priming walls, ceilings, doors, and trim.
  • Apply paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
  • Match and mix paint colors to maintain consistent tones throughout the facility.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in all work areas, ensuring minimal disruption to residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Follow proper safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with minor maintenance tasks as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
  • Keep detailed records of work completed, materials used, and areas serviced.
  • Communicate courteously and professionally with residents and staff, maintaining respect and confidentiality at all times.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards in all work performed.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the locations appearance by painting, staining, and finishing interior and exterior surfaces in resident rooms, common areas, offices, and other parts of the facility as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of painting experience preferred (commercial, residential, or healthcare setting).
  • Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and proper use of tools and materials.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, lift up to 75 lbs, and work on ladders or scaffolding as needed.
